Different Thinkers series
The Different Thinkers series was created to help elementary-aged children understand their amazing brains, learn about their profile of strengths and weaknesses, and understand their diagnoses. The books feature three vignettes of children who demonstrate different presentations of the diagnosis being discussed, examples of strategies to support them at school and at home, and a workbook where a child can write about their own strengths, challenges, and ideas to best support their thinking and learning. It is important to empower children with knowledge about how their brains work to help them become their best self-advocates in the future.
The first book in this series, Different Thinkers: ADHD, was published in January 2024. This book provides children, their families, and other professionals with language to understand an ADHD diagnosis, deal with its challenges, and realize the excellent strengths and gifts associated with a different thinking brain.
The second book in the series, Different Thinkers: Autism, will be published in March 2025. It is a child-centered guide that explains autism and highlights the gifts of being neurodivergent.
